A journey through the trend scenarios recounted in the latest editions of Milano Fashion&Jewels

Fashion accessories trends are constantly transforming, influenced by the context in which we live and the eclectic creativity of designers. Milano Fashion&Jewels Exhibition since 2020 has been using the collaboration of Poli.Design to explore trends more closely and understand the evolution of consumer behavior.

Below is a brief journey through the trend scenarios recounted in recent editions of the event.

MIX-UP

Mix-Up evokes an irresistible desire to explore landscapes, places and objects of fascinating ambiguity. The key to the mix is found in the use of seemingly traditional yet sustainable materials, the replication of objects with out-of-the-ordinary characteristics and the use of artificial intelligence to create deceptively realistic content. The theme of combination suggests an irresistible desire to get closer, to fully understand and appreciate the beauty inherent in experimentation. Mix-Up celebrates a lifestyle without rules, embodying the audacity of those who defy convention, constantly exploring new horizons. Here, different worlds - such as fashion and sport, art and skateboarding - mingle. The essence of those who inhabit this trend lies in their love of discovery, embracing out-of-the-ordinary experiences but always respecting the world around them. SENSES

Senses explores the deeper meanings of feeling understood as human perception through body and mind. The exploration is not only physical and material but also conceptual, creative and often messy. Here real and tangible but also fantastic and imaginary bodies are explored through senses that enhance knowledge, the result of real if chaotic and not always perfect experiences. Senses focuses on the human being, celebrating the physical body and accepting the inevitability of mistakes as part of the human experience. Aimed at a young audience, it favours simple and authentic choices, occasionally experimenting with more eccentric options. It values material, craftsmanship and the rediscovery of traditions. With a focus on body positivity and self-acceptance, a key element is the promotion of humanity, compassion and love for others. (Photo credit: Thandiwe Muriu, Colors of Thandiwe © Thandiwe Muriu)

MAKE ORDINARY EXTRA-ORDINARY IS CHARACTERIZED
BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

BEYOND BODIES

Beyond Bodies seeks uniqueness through extravagant and daring shapes that use the body as a source of inspiration. Silhouettes tracing anatomical profile, face ornaments and details of the human figure become the stars of this trend. A trend for people who like to leave their mark. Extroverted and curious about all that is unconventional, they use the body as a means of expressing their identity, in a continuous metamorphosis in line with contemporary aesthetics.

SUPERCRAFT

Tradition and innovation meet and merge to find expressive shapes in surfaces and volumes that look to the past and reinterpret it through contemporary solutions. Somewhere between curiosity for everything through new languages and ways of expression, and nostalgia for what is in the past, the Supercraft audience is led in its choices by its attention for social and environmental sustainability.

BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

Too good to Be True - MACRO TREND

It describes worlds that seemed so far away but are actually becoming reality. Nature regaining the upper hand, winning over waste, superficial choices and becoming the priority for consumers and companies. Sustainable actions such as the use of recycled materials or the new life of objects are key. At the same time, the fear that the Earth is no longer enough, accelerates the exploration of the universe.

Too good to Be True IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

Like me, Like me Not - MACRO TREND

It emphasizes the beauty of contrasts, freedom of expression, indifferent to the judgment of others. In a contemporary context where likes dictate fame, success or define a person's talent, this trend aims to redefine the importance of being and not liking. It thus explicitly declares when one is trying to be something that one is not; excesses are not hidden but peculiarities are enhanced.

Like me, Like me Not IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

POPTIMISM - MACRO TREND

Poptimism is the result of the fusion of popular and optimism and is developed in exuberant, vibrant and unexpected shapes and colors. Designed for an ageless target in love with sustainable beauty, Poptimism contains notes of joy and liveliness in every microtrend: have fun is based on the idea of play and fun; classic goes crazy looks at sculptures and paintings of the past, altering them with contemporary and ironic elements; zoom booms enhances the peculiarities of the details; more is more is a hymn to excess in its maniacally ordered but also chaotic forms.

POPTIMISM IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

CHOICELAND - MACRO TREND

Choiceland is the beauty of being free, the charm of being able to choose. Designed for Gen Z, it follows their love for sharing, self-expression and creativity. The fluidity and intersections that characterize Choiceland are developed in the following microtrends: hack the 90s subverts the ordinary in favor of surprising effects; antithesis emphasizes the splendor of contrast and diversity; broadcast leaves room for communication through words, drawings or textures; love is love celebrates love in all its forms.

CHOICELAND IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

Dreamscapes - MACRO TREND

Dreamscapes tells of dreamy, magical and imaginary worlds found in the small details of everyday life. Who are the people who inhabit these worlds? They are women who live with their heads in the clouds, romantic women who love to surround themselves with youthful objects, women who populate places that seem stolen from fairy tales and who wear extremely feminine clothes. A dreamy allure of neutral colours alternating with purple, pink, teal and blue in places, people and art installations that seem fluid and surreal.

DREAMSCAPES IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

Hyperconnection - MACRO TREND

The goal is to investigate the connections between the real and digital worlds. The contemporary tribes of this macro-scene are intrigued and stimulated by cultural exchanges; they strongly believe in sharing ideals and styles and in the value of collaboration in real and virtual life, lives between which they constantly move. This sense of collective belonging that generates strength and harmony is translated into neutral tones alternating with vibrant reds and yellows that express the energy of the generation.

HYPERCONNECTION IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

Slow Renaissance - MACRO TREND

Rebirth as a progressive enlightenment following the darkness of the crisis. Arts, science and culture flourish thanks to a return to classicism, a reference to the original, to the natural. A response to a period of darkness that investigates the resources of the individual, the digital and the invisible with the aim of regaining possession of lost time through the small daily joys.

SLOW RENAISSANCE IS CHARACTERIZED BY FOUR MICRO TRENDS:

Inner Identity - MACRO TREND

Irrational escapes and illogical behavior as a reaction to the crisis and to an announced decline. Habits and lifestyles are transformed into a distorted and silent parallel world, frightening, to be faced with autarkic behaviors to feel the need of the world as little as possible or with new apotropaic artifacts to resist the uncertainty of the contemporary.
